Typography is an expressive visual language. Our brand typography embues delight, dependability, and energy. Idealistic and reliable type families have been selected to represent Census typographically.

Our type stack

Messina Sans is our primary brand font. We use it across all our verbal brand communication. Messina Sans meets the demands of our marketing and product design environment. With its clean lines and minimalist style, Messina Sans exudes a sense of simplicity, functionality, and visual clarity. This modernist aesthetic lends an air of elegance and sophistication to the broader Census brand.

The retail font family has been modified by Luzi Type to swap square punctuation to circles — as seen in the dots of the i, j, period, comma, exclamation point, colon, etc. This elemental change cascades into a much friendlier tone.

Heldane Text

Heldane is a contemporary serif family inspired by the renaissance works of Hendrik van den Keere, Claude Garamont, Robert Granjon and Simon de Colines. Rather than emulating a specific font, Heldane amalgamates the best details from these sources into a cohesive whole. The classical typographic foundations of Heldane are refined with rigorous digital drawing.
